SEAPORT
Designed by Cycas Landscape Design in 2006. Constructed by Kiama Landscapes and Natural Pools in 2006. The landscape design process commenced in March 2006, with final drawings and accompanying documentation completed by May 2006. The landscape around the house was largely complete at the time Cycas was engaged. The north facing rear garden featured a tennis court, large outdoor entertaining area and lawn area to the eastern side of the tennis court. The clients wanted a pool and pool house to complete the picture. They briefed to Mark Browning, landscape designer of Cycas, that the pool should be large enough to swim laps yet also perform a role as a family pool. The poolhouse needed to serve a year round function. Cycas designed a 15 metre lap pool with a 5 metre by 4 metre “play” zone.To assist with the site levels and parameters they designed the pool to be elevated above the existing tennis court incorporating nearly 20 metres of glass infinity edging to western and northern sides of the pool. The poolhouse to the eastern side was designed to catch the afternoon sun as well as aspects over the pool and tennis court. Sitting a step above the pool level they employed a cantilevered granite platform to provide casual pool side living. The pool house incorporated daybeds, stackable lourvred shutters, radient heating and joinery for outdoor living requirements. The finished product provides their clients with a resort like environment that most of us would only wish for in the best five star holiday destinations!
